The purpose of this article is to verify the USB driver has installed on the computer when connecting one of the Fluke 430 Series II instruments.
1. Turn on Fluke instrument by pushing green button.
2. Attach USB cable to Fluke instrument and the other end to a 2.0 USB port on PC. If you have a 3.0 USB port and try to use it the Fluke instrument can get locked up and you may have to send it into the Fluke service center for repair.
Here is a picture of a 2.0 USB port and 3.0 USB port.
3. Verify if USB driver has installed by using the computers Device Manager.
4. Once in the Device Manager if the driver has installed completely the Fluke instrument should show up in two locations Universal Serial Ports and Ports (Com & LTP) directories.
Note the Com port assignment number in the Ports directory could be used in the future if you upgrade the firmware in the meter. See picture as an example of the Device Manager and both the Universal Serial Ports and Ports (Com & LTP) directories identify the Fluke instrument.
If the Device Manger does not show the two items be patient it can take up to 10 minutes for the driver to install automatically. If it does not install automatically refer to "How to manually install USB driver for Fluke-434-II, Fluke-435-II, Fluke-437-II, Fluke-438-II".
